Castleton and around
Farran House and The Little Barn are located in Castleton in the heart of the Peak District National Park. This historic and popular village is a great base from which to explore the many attractions this area has to offer which include the Blue John Mines, Speedwell Cavern, Peveril Castle as well as excellent walking to enjoy. Edale, the start of the Pennine Way, is very close by while the Great Ridge from Mam Tor to Lose Hill offers a spectular stroll on a summer's evening.
Further afield there are many more attractions. The architecture and the Opera House at the spa town of Buxton, the market town of Bakewell and the historic and fabulous Chatsworth House and park are all within easy reach, while a short train ride will take you into Sheffield should you wish.
Castleton itself serves its visitors well with excellent facilities within the village. There are good shops, pubs and a variety of eating places all within a very short stroll of the house.
