Description
Uppertown Farm is a mid 17th century Grade II listed farmhouse with original farm buildings converted to self-catering holiday accommodation. It is in a secluded position on the edge of the village of Birchover in the Peak District National Park, not far from the lovely market town of Bakewell. Just a stroll from the village along a quiet country lane, it commands splendid views over rolling countryside. With bridle ways going right past the door, there is direct access to the local countryside. A short drive away are the stately homes of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall and famous beauty spots including Dove Dale, Lathkill Dale and Monsal Dale. The Hayloft is a small apartment for two on the upper floor of a barn. The entrance is up a short external flight of stone steps with a handrail. This might not be suitable for a disabled person. The accommodation is all on one level, with a compact, well-equipped kitchen with breakfast bar. The kitchen leads through to the spacious sitting/bedroom which has a king-size double bed (convertible into 2 beds on request), sofa, TV and DVD. Original features in this room include an exposed stone wall, rafters and pitched roof. There is a bathroom with shower, hand-basin and toilet. It has its own large private garden with panoramic views of the countryside. There are 2 double bedrooms, each with ensuite facilities, and a separate area with 2 adult-sized (3') bunk beds. There is a compact, well-equipped kitchen and splendid large dining/living room with original features including open fire, exposed stone walls and pitched roof. The kitchen and dining room have wonderful views of the countryside.
