Description
Moorfield was built in 1861 by a local family who made their fortune from one of the many cotton mills in the surrounding area. Nestling amongst the foothills of Kinder Scout the estate’s location is excellent for fell-walking and site-seeing. The properties are situated 2 miles from the centre of Glossop, a bustling market town with a dozen restaurants and over 20 pubs, many serving food.  They are a mile from both the A624 and A57 (Snake Pass) roads and so easily reached by car. The nearest bus is one mile away and the railway, two miles away, has a half hourly service to the centre of Manchester (journey time 30 minutes).

With the departure of its original residents Moorfield was divided into a number of individual properties including Moorfield Lodge, the Old Billiard Room and the Garden Flat. Guests are welcome to use the 5 acre grounds of Moorfield House during their stay. Comfortably sleeping 4 to 6, Moorfield Lodge provides an excellent centre for a family holiday in Derbyshire. Sleeping 2, with space for a third if required, the Old Billiard Room is an excellent base for a couple or small family seeking a self-catering holiday in the Peak District. Sleeping 2, the Garden Flat is a cosy base for a couple.

The Old Billiard Room (sleeps 2) was the billiard hall of Moorfield House and is steeped in original features such as carved beams, wood panelling and an etched glass ceiling.  It has a large lounge with the bedroom on a mezzanine area overlooking the living room.  This apartment is perfect for two; however an extra bed can be put in the lounge for an additional charge.

The Garden Flat (sleeps 2) is the result of a beautiful conversion of some old outbuildings and is suitable for people with a mobility impairment as it is all on one floor.  The flat has all the facilities one would expect and affords magnificent views of the Pennine Hills.
