North End Cottages are two adjoining properties - The Old Currier Shop (sleeps 4 - 6) and Durham House (sleeps 12). They are available either individually or together. On a quiet but centrally located street in Wirksworth, they are an ideal base from which to explore the Peak District.
Nearby attractions include Matlock (5 miles), Carsington Water (5 miles), the High Peak Trail and the Peak District National Park (1 mile) and Chatsworth House (15 minute drive).
Durham House is a Georgian residence, with 6 bedrooms (2 double, 2 kingsize and 2 twin rooms), 2 sitting rooms, a kitchen and separate dining room, 2 bathrooms and a wealth of features, including original fireplaces and two sets of stairs. Most of the rooms have views over Wirksworth moor.
The house has been tastefully furnished with a mixture of antique and modern furniture. Durham House has a well established, secluded garden, with outdoor seating and a pond.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher and microwave and there is a washing machine and tumble dryer in the utility room. The living room has an open fire and there is a TV (with Freeview) and a stereo with digital radio and IPOD docking facilities.
Both of the bathrooms have been newly refurbished, with baths and showers.
There is off-street parking for 3 cars and a secure area in the garage for bikes.
The Old Currier Shop is a charming 2 bedroom cottage, which was originally a currier's shop (for the curing of leather hides). It is now a stylish and comfortable house, with a spacious open plan living area downstairs and 2 bedrooms upstairs - 1 double and 1 twin.
The living room is comfortable and spacious, with an open fire, a sofa bed, armchairs, a stereo and a TV (with Freeview). The kitchen is fully contained, with dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. There is also a dining area, which seats 4 - 6.
Upstairs, the master bedroom has an antique brass bed. The second bedroom is charmingly furnished with twin beds. The bathroom has a bath with shower over it.
There is a small patio garden behind the cottage, with chairs and a BBQ. There is also off street parking for 2 cars and a secure area in the garage for bikes.
All linen and towels are provided for your stay.
