Self Catering Holiday Cottages In Great Longstone
Great Longstone is a pretty Peak District village only two miles north of Bakewell with its fascinating history, lively market and internationally famous pudding. The village of Great Longstone sits under Longstone Edge, a ridge five miles long and rising to 1300 feet at Bleak Low from which, there are some fine views over Derbyshire. There are lovely cottages running through the village, all of which are made from the mellow Derbyshire gritstone, and a memorial cross dates from when Flemish weavers settled in this part of the county and started the stocking industry. If you are staying in one of the self catering holiday cottages in Great Longstone you will find that there is a pub in the village and a well stocked village shop and post office. A good base to rent a self catering holiday cottage and enjoy the houses of Chatsworth, Haddon and the fine Peak District walks in the area.
