Description
Timeless Holidays in the Heart of the Peak District - An Unforgettable Experience.
New for 2011 New Hanson Shepherd’s Hut to compliment our already successful 4 star self catering holiday Bungalow. Bed & Breakfast with a difference or self cater if you prefer.
Our shepherd’s hut stands in a meadow on our beef and sheep hill farm, located at the edge of our newly planted woodland, with views looking down the dales of the River Dove near the beautiful river side hamlet of Milldale where years ago sheep were washed in the Dove near the cobbled stone Viators Bridge.
The origins of the Shepherd’s Hut date back to the early 16th century. Made of wood with a curved corrugated iron roof, a stove, stable door and cast iron wheels, this was the living accommodation for the shepherd to tend his flock away from the main farmstead.
Today, it’s a romantic, relaxing and more rustic way to holiday. Enjoy your stay and share your experiences in our Ecologically friendly shepherd’s hut on our Peak District hill farm. Take a step back in time to the days of simplicity, with no electricity, television or internet. Just relax and unwind with nature on your door step.
The hut is warm and cosy with its own small wood burning stove, perfect for those cooler days and evenings. It has a built in double bed with a 4ft luxury mattress and linen, with ample storage space underneath. Close by a smaller hut houses a camping toilet for your own personal use and a gas powered shower. Wyle away the evening while sitting out on the verandah with a glass of wine watching the sunset disappear behind the hills & dale or sip your morning tea and see the wildlife and farm animals come awake.
