Ashford-in-the-Water is a picturesque village by the River Wye.
'Eating out' facilities are extremely good. Within 150 yds of the cottage there are two pubs, a hotel and an excellent well stocked village general store.
Seasonal activities include cricket and Well Dressing.
Ashford is one and a half miles from Bakewell and is ideally situated to enjoy the Peak District National Park with its excellent resources for walking and cycling.
Many places of interest are within easy reach of Ashford. These include Buxton and the Buxton Opera House, an excellent market in Bakewell every Monday. Castleton, Matlock Bath, Matlock, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and the plague village of Eyam are close by.
Additionally there is a Carriage Museum, the Blue John Caves and lots of activities for children.
